- Try combining two or more two of our free printable gift wrap designs for a unique gift presentation.
- Use a solid color paper together with one of our printable wrapping paper designs
- Try recycling other papers you have around the house—newspapers, especially Sunday comics, can be a lively addition to your gift wrap.
- Find a gift wrap pattern that you like and combine with contrasting or same color ribbon.
- Tie up your present with something else besides ribbon. Use colored string, rope, scarves, strips of cloth—there are even all kinds of glittery metallic cord you can use. Look in your fabric store's notions department for other ideas, like rick rack.
- For a classy look, make a simple "belly band"—a strip of paper 1-3 inches wide—long enough to go around the middle of your gift like a belt. Fasten it together on the back with clear tape. Use a contrasting color or pattern. You don't even need ribbon with this idea!
- Use tissue paper color that shows off your gift—choose a color that makes a splash!
- Create a theme for your gift wrapping—if the present is for a golfer, attach a tee to the outside. Present for a cook? Dress up your gift wrap with an oven mitt, a wooden spoon or a wire wisk. Attach a pacifier or a rattle to a baby's gift. You can even use small cuttings from evergreens or leaves from your garden—autumn leaves can be very decorative—for a seasonal look.
